WE’RE SERIOUS ABOUT PLANT HEALTHCARE
Bugs, grubs, fungi, bacteria, viruses…the list is pretty dense when it comes to things in our environment that negatively impact plant life. To keep plants happy and healthy – and in turn maintain flourishing landscapes – Vista uses a series of biological and mechanical controls to mitigate the harmful effects of pests and disease in the garden and to use environmentally-friendly practices as much as possible.
Some examples of these practices include:
- Ensuring good soil health (the foundation of the landscape)
- Using beneficial organisms to control pests(e.g., nematodes)
- Removing invasive plants and weeds
- Pruning out dead/diseased parts of plants and trees
- Planting with the “right plant in the right place”
FOCUSED ON PREVENTION
If the basic needs of plants are met, their own defence system will protect them from the vast majority of pests. A large part of plant health care is prevention which increases the plant’s strength, health and overall ability to fight off diseases and common pests. More than 90% of insect and disease problems caused by basic needs not being met.
